How I Started my Blog:
Before I started Those Positive Thoughts I was looking for a new hobby. Something which I could be crazy passionate about. I tried a number of different hobbies but I didn’t fall in love with any of them. Then one day, as I was browsing Pinterest, I had an idea “why don’t I start my own blog?”.
I started by telling my boyfriend my idea, he was super encouraging and enthusiastic but despite this I was very nervous of what others would think, so I kept my idea on the low. For a couple of months I started writing posts until I eventually gained enough confidence to show my writing to my friends and family. They were all incredibly motivating, which gave me the strength to finally launch Those Positive Thoughts.
Blogging Advice to new Bloggers:
Network: Network with other bloggers because the blogging community truly is the friendliest and most encouraging community I’ve been part of. If you read a post and it leaves you feeling inspired, motivated, happy or anything positive then comment on their work and let them know how great it made you feel. Share other bloggers posts and the favour will be returned. Along my journey my confidence is growing and I feel inspired everyday by other bloggers achievements.
Let’s keep encouraging each other and build each other up.
Don’t be so hard on yourself: When I first started Those Positive Thoughts, I thought all I had to be was a writer but I soon realised that I also need to be a photographer, an IT whiz and a social media expert. Luckily, actually… very luckily, I have a helpful IT boyfriend who is able to teach me a lot of blog/IT related things. Yet, I’m still learning many other skills. I’m learning how to take great photographs with the best lighting. I’m learning how to utilise each social media platform to promote my blog. At first I found these learning curves very frustrating but I picked up one thing at a time until things seemed a little less daunting. Don’t be so hard on yourself, because if you’re passionate then it will all be worth it!
