Heal, Inspire, Console
Journaling is a just one way to practise self-care and it seems to me that it’s also one of the most popular practises. Writing lets you express yourself and your feelings, it allows you to look back on the past and see how far you’ve come and how much you’ve grown. Journaling can heal, inspire and console. Since I’ve had such great feedback from my recent post journaling prompts for self-reflection and self-discovery, I thought I would follow up with fifteen resources for you and your journal.
Let’s get to it!
The first place to start is with your journal. I understand that writing doesn’t come as easy to some as it does for others. If this is the case for you then not to worry, there are tons of journaling prompts and guides out there to choose from. Below I’ve selected a mixture of different types of journals, some where you simply write one line a day, perfect for beginners! Others are designed for certain areas of your life, such as reducing worry with the ‘No Worries Guide’ or to express gratitude with the ‘Daily Gratitude Journal’.
One Line a Day: A Five-Year Memory Book
This journal is perfect for beginners. I bought ‘One Line a Day’ when I wanted to try journaling as part of my self-care routine. The idea being, you write down one sentence a day, every day. Rather than writing a full page like other journals. It’s much more manageable and less time consuming, like I said, it’s perfect for beginners.
Start Where You Are
An interactive journal which has been designed to help you nurture your creativity, mindfulness, and self-motivation. Created by Meera Lee Patel to help you navigate your way through daily life with a few simple reminders. I love the bright images and inspirational quotes in this journal, its incredibly eye catching.
No Worries, Guided Journal
Do you worry a lot? I sure do! This journal is so simple yet incredible. Using the template in the book, you write down what is on your mind and what is worrying you. Then you answer yes or no whether you can do something to resolve your trouble. Once your worry is resolved you tear off the “worry corner”.
Bullet Grid Journal
The watercolour bullet grid journal comes in lots of pretty designs and colour schemes with different quotes on the cover. I’ve not yet tried a bullet grid journal but when I do these bright and colourful journals look like a great starting place! Check out Boho Berry blog for bullet journaling inspiration!
5 Minute Daily Gratitude Journal
Practising gratitude everyday will allow you to count your blessings, not your problems. This five minute daily gratitude journal includes prompts for you to write about the things you are grateful for in as little as five minutes. Practising gratitude everyday will help you find happiness from within.

I love Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, I found her words to be so inspiring that I even wrote a post which included eight powerful messages from Big Magic. Even though this book isn’t about journaling, I believe that the messages from this book will act as brilliant quotes to add to your journal!
Year of Cozy by Adrianna Adarme
Like her blog, A Cozy Kitchen, Adrianna Adarme has created a beautiful book full of advice for simplifying and living a more thoughtful life. This book is a great little resource for you and your journal as it is organised by months and categories such as “live”, “Do” and “Make”. Each inspiring activities, recipes and projects throughout the year.

Another great and FREE way to pick up some resources for you and your journal is through blog posts and the incredible free pintable’s some bloggers provide. There are so many inspiring bloggers out there who provide journaling prompts, but as I could be here all day listing them out, I’ve selected a few of my favourites.

Rachel MacDonald has created a selection of amazing free goodies, of which include “60 Journal Prompts”, designed to “inspire radical self-exploration”. If you ever stare blankly at a your journal then prompts are a great place to start, let these questions be your guide. I absolutely love Boho Berry, it was one of the first blogs I read before deciding to create Those Positive Thoughts.
