Since I’ve found so many amazing TED Talks I thought I would share some of my favourite ones about TED Talks for personal growth. These talks truly encouraged and inspired me and I’m certain they will do the same for you!
You most likely know what TED Talks is but if you don’t I’ll give you a little background. Under the slogan “Ideas worth spreading”, TED Talks is an online non-profit organisation dedicated to sharing ideas and encouragement through inspiring speeches from some of the world’s greatest minds, and it’s all free!
Below I have listed 10 TED Talks for personal growth. Enjoy!
10 TED Talks For Personal Growth
1. How to Stop Screwing Yourself Over – Mel Robbins
TED: This is one of my favourite TED Talks for personal growth. How do you get on the road to being happier? Start by setting your alarm for 30 minutes earlier than usual and not hitting the snooze button. The effort required to leave that warm bed and enter the world is the same amount of effort needed to shake up your life and make that elusive change. In this humorous and provocative talk, Mel Robbins explains how turning off our brain’s autopilot and demolishing our comfort zones is key to a rewarding life.
2. Looks Aren’t Everything. Believe Me, I’m A Model – Cameron Russell
TED: Cameron Russell admits she won “a genetic lottery”: she’s tall, pretty and an underwear model. But don’t judge her by her looks. In this fearless talk, she takes a wry look at the industry that had her looking highly seductive at barely 16 years old.
3. Why Thinking Your Ugly is Bad for you – Meaghan Ramsey
TED: About 10,000 people a month Google the phrase, “Am I ugly?” Meaghan Ramsey of the Dove Self-Esteem Project has a feeling that many of them are young girls. In a deeply unsettling talk, she walks us through the surprising impacts of low body and image confidence—from lower grade point averages to greater risk-taking with drugs and alcohol. And then shares the key things all of us can do to disrupt this reality.

4. The Secret of Becoming Mentally Strong – Amy Morin
We all have the ability to build mental strength, but most of us don’t know how. Amy Morin tells her secret of becoming mentally strong, by choosing to perform exercises that will help you learn to manage your behaviour, thoughts and emotions.
5. All it Takes is 10 Mindful Minutes – Andy Puddicombe
TED: Another great TED Talks for personal growth. When is the last time you did absolutely nothing for 10 whole minutes? Not texting, talking or even thinking? Mindfulness expert Andy Puddicombe describes the transformative power of doing just that: Refreshing your mind for 10 minutes a day, simply by being mindful and experiencing the present moment. (No need for incense or sitting in uncomfortable positions.
6. Living Without Shame – Whitney Thore
Whitney Thore talks us through her experience with bullies and her body image. After putting herself on countless diets and suffering an eating disorder, she has found the answer to her struggles. The answer being, living without shame.
7. The Power Of Vulnerability – Brené Brown

8. Programming Your Mind for Success – Carrie Green
This is a fantastic TED Talks for personal growth. Carrie Green successfully launched the Female Entrepreneur Association, as a way to inspire and connect female entrepreneurs. In her talk she shares with us the struggles she faced along her journey and advices how to programme your mind for success.
9. 365 Days of Thank You – Brian Doyle
Think about the people in your life who you appreciate and are grateful for, how often do you thank them for the role they play in your life? After a near deaf experience, Brian Doyle decides to practise gratitude for 365 days. He does this by saying thank you to one person every single day for the meaning and impact they have in his life.
10. The Power of Introverts – Susan Cain
TED: In a culture where being social and outgoing are prized above all else, it can be difficult, even shameful, to be an introvert. But, as Susan Cain argues in this passionate talk, introverts bring extraordinary talents and abilities to the world, and should be encouraged and celebrated.

Ted Talks and podcasts are perfect to listen to on your commute. Also really good to listen to if you are working from home!
Hi Laura,
Thanks for sharing these. I particularly like Susan Cain’s talk, especially with being an introvert myself as the advice is so relatable. I need to check out Carrie Green’s TED Talk as if it’s anywhere near as good as her book (She Means Business), then it’s undoubtedly worth watching. Thanks for the recommendation!
