Happy New Year!!
2018 has officially begun and today I’m sharing with you my New Year goals and theme for the 2018.
Throughout 2017 I shared with you my monthly goals and told you how I got on with my goals in the previous month. You can read my December goals here. In 2018 I will continue to share with you my monthly goals as I know many of you found these posts super encouraging and motivating. Personally I’ve found sharing my goals with you guys to be a key reason to actually stick to them!

Just like my monthly goals, I have divided my 2018 goals into categories depending on which areas of my life need a little attention. The areas which I want to focus on in 2018 are:
- Personal growth
Here are some other areas in life which you may wish to focus on:
My personal growth goal for 2018 is to be a better cook. I plan on doing this by cooking or baking a new meal once a week.
There are a number of reasons why I’ve set myself a cooking goal. (1) My boyfriend Ash is a great cook and I want to be able to return the favour (2) We have just redone our kitchen and I want to make the most of it (3) I would love to host dinner parties which my friends and family love! I actually started this resolution the weekend before 2018, by baking a Victoria Sponge. For all of you chefs out there, I know this is probably like the worlds easiest cake to bake, but we all have to start somewhere. The final appearance of the cake wasn’t all that, as the creamy filling was pretty runny, but despite that it was very tasting. If I do say so myself!
My 2018 career goal is to grow my blog into a side business earning a part time income.
Those Positive Thoughts celebrated its first birthday last month and looking back I can see just how much it’s grown and developed as a brand. I feel like year one for my blog has been focused on learning and developing a brand. The learning side will never end but in year one I was pretty much starting from scratch. I was learning how to create a website, learning how to get my posts in front of my target audience and learning how to take and edit professional looking photos. Developing a brand took a lot of time too, as I first had to understand the message behind Those Positive Thoughts and then represent that message throughout my website and acrossall of my social accounts.
I have lots of exciting things planned for Those Positive Thoughts in 2018 to help it reach it’s goal. Keep an eye out for my monthly goals for updates!

My adventure goal for for 2018 isn’t very “SMART“, I just want to have more adventures! Simple as that, and I’ll know if I’m achieving my goal because I’ll either be full of excitement with tones of memories or I’ll be bored in my daily routine.
Last year I bought my very first home with Ash and as you can imagine this is a pretty big investment. Granted I did have some amazing adventures last year such as New York with my Nan and Paris with Ash. However this year I want to find more of a balance between renovating our home and going on adventures. Whether that be a holiday, a weekend away or simply more theatre trips (because I LOVE going to the theatre!).

Healthy living should always be one of your goals, because it’s your health and what could possibily be more important than your health?
My health goal for 2018 is to exercise three times a week minimum. But wait… it’s much more detailed than that! Keep reading 😉
My health goal is so much more than just wanting to exercise three times a week, because honestly, that’s no different to 2017. In fact when I was training for a half marathon last year I was training up to five times week (apart from the festive season.. oops).
Here is a break down of my health goals for 2018 :
- Continue running: I feel amazing when I’m running fast.
- Practice yoga at least once a week: I used to do the splits… three years go… I want to be that flexible again!
- Tone up by getting back into the gym: Weight training can seriously ache the next day, but I love knowing that it’s changing my body for the better.

My self-care goal for 2018 is to basically practise self-care more, but as self-care comes in a number of variations, let me break it down for you!
As a well-being blogger, I make a continuous effort to practice self-care and make sure I’m not running on empty. Yet there are still a few things from my self-care regime which I would like to improve on this year:
- Switch off from electronics by 9 PM on weekdays.
- Establish and stick to a morning routine (this was a constant battle in 2017 and in 2018 I want to make my mornings more productive and feel excited to start my morning routine).
- Monthly treat! because I, you and we deserve it.

My Theme for 2018
Now that you’ve read all about my goals for the New Year, I’m going to tell you about my theme for 2018!
Setting yourself a theme for the New Year is an alternative to setting goals or a resolution, but if you’re like me and you love setting goals then why not set a theme too! The idea behind a theme is to simply pick a word or two that will summarise your intentions and focus for the year.
My theme for 2018 is “blossom”. I’ve chosen this word as my theme for two reasons. (1) Last year, as you know, I bought my first home which needs a tone of work, I’m looking forward to seeing our house blossom into a home in 2018. (2) Those Positive Thoughts grew a great deal in its first year but I was still learning and finding my niche. In 2018 I plan on growing my blog even further and watching it blossom!
