My January Intentions

I’ve started the year by journaling my January intentions, this is something which I will continue to do and share throughout 2019. I’ve decided that 2019 will be the year I get out of my own way and turn my dreams into a reality. I’m starting the year with a fresh mindset and a desire to keep bettering myself. I’ve always found journaling to be a very powerful exercise and writing out your monthly intentions is a great way to remind yourself what’s important to you, what your goals are and the type of person you want to become as you work towards your goals.

Celebrate: My first intention for 2019 is to celebrate. In 2018 I was very focused on my results rather than my effort, which meant I never celebrated the effort I put in. Instead I focused on the results and what my next step were. This year I want to make a conscious effort to look at how far I’ve come and celebrate the effort I’m putting in rather than the results. For example, I’ve been working hard to create my online course HAPPY HABITS, I set myself a goal to get X amount of students in the course. However regardless to whether I reach this number of not, I will be celebrating the end of the launch as a way to recognise my efforts and not the results.

Believe: I’ve set myself an impossible goal for 2019, and by impossible I mean I can not see how I am going to achieve it! It’s way out of my comfort zone however what I do know is that to achieve this goal I need to believe in myself. I need to believe in myself even when no one else does, I need to believe in myself when all I want to do is stop and go back into my comfort zone.

Affirmations: I use to find affirmations kind of “woo-woo” and I never really believed in them. But in order to improve my own self-belief I’m dedicated to writing down daily affirmations to become the person I’m capable of being. We’re so use to unknowingly telling ourselves negative things such as “you can’t do this, you’re not good enough, you’re not smart enough, and so on”. Affirmations are a great way to reverse these thoughts and allow our minds to start believing in ourselves again.

Plan: In 2018 I wasted a lot of time doing “busy work“, which is basically work which makes you feel productive but doesn’t actually move the needle as such. This year I was to be more mindful with my time by scheduling important tasks into my calendar. Including blogging tasks and making time for my friends, family and time for myself to wind down and relax.
