“Self confidence is the best outfit, rock it and own it”
We hear that confidence is key but not all of us have confidence in abundance and sometimes we need a little help. Personally I find clothes can provide that extra boost of confidence, this certainly was the case last week when I rocked up at the Beyoncé and Jay Z OTR II concert, feeling as sassy as the queen herself, Beyoncé!
I felt memorised watching Beyoncé perform at the London Stadium, not just because she did more cardio during her two-hour show than I do in a week, but because she exuded confidence. Watching her performance made me want to come out of my shell more, to speak my mind and stand up for what I believe in.

We were spoiled by choice by Debenhams Little Black Dress range and it didn’t surprise me that not one of us have picked the same dress/style. It just goes to show that style isn’t about what you wear, it’s about how you wear it and having style means feeling comfortable and confident in your outfit.
So when you find yourself feeling more of a couch potato and less Beyoncé, here are some tips to help you dress for your most confident self.
Forget about perfection
The human body is amazing and not everything about my body, face or hair has to be perfect. I should just be grateful that my body enables me to dance when my favourite songs are playing, to run when I’m running late and most importantly my body is able to heal itself. These are things which really matter and I should be grateful every single day that my body capable of doing tremendous activities without limitations.
Embrace your best features
You are who you are and you have to work with what you’ve got. We all have features which we don’t love but why are these the features which we get focus on the most? What about your long legs, your bust or your curves? Find outfits which embrace your best features. Just remember that we all have insecurities and we all have features that we don’t like but isn’t that the beauty of it all, because this is what makes you different from everyone else in the world.
Update your go-to outfits
We all have those go-to outfits which we can always rely on to make us feel confident. Whether it be a pair of high waisted jeans which hugs you in all the right places or that dress which hang perfectly especially on those bloated days. So when you’re having one of those tearful “I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR” days, you can always rely on your go-to outfits, which you can throw on and still rock it!
People have their right to an opinion and you have a right to ignore it. Not everyone is as kind as you are and sometimes people feel the need make negative comments which aren’t going to make you feel too good. But don’t base your self-worth on the opinions of others, especially if those opinions aren’t even from close friends. Dress for yourself because when you feel good it doesn’t matter what other people say, confidence is all about the way you carry yourself.
Open up about your body issues
We’re all dealing with our own body issues and that’s why I think it’s important that we all open up about them with others. The moment you open up to someone else and they in return share their own insecurities, you will feel more at peace with who you are. You will release that you’re not the only one who has body issues and sharing them with others will allow you to feel more comfortable in your own skin.
Replace cruel self-criticism with affirmations
We’re all human and we’re not going to wake up every morning and feel like Beyoncé. It doesn’t matter who we are and how hard we try to remove negative thoughts, they are going to creep into our mind from time to time. All we can do is keep sending ourselves loving and positive thoughts, especially on those unconfident days. Quiet the mean girl in your head with loving and respectful affirmations, because what you think about yourself is the most important opinion of them all.
