What To Do When You Don’t Know Your Purpose

The Whole Finding Your Purpose Thing Leaves me Feeling a Little Lost…

They say find your passion and it will lead you to your purpose but what if we haven’t found our passion yet? What if we have a couple of different interests but nothing which gives us that burning desire? What if we’re feeling frustrated trying to figure out what our purpose is?

In a culture which fixates on finding our purpose and following our passion, it can be difficult for those of us who just don’t have an easily identifiable desire.

What To Do When You Don’t Know Your Purpose

Live Fully and Make the Most out of What You’ve Been Given

You see sometimes I think I have my life all figured out. During those times I feel in control, motivated and excited, in fact I feel amazing! Yet too many times the path I’m walking down seems to change direction. Before I know it my journey seems to resemble a carnival fun house, with trapped doors and mazes. The path I was walking down doesn’t seem right and I feel frustrated that once again I’m lost.

All along I was searching for me. – Meredith Marple

To have a purpose is to feel connected to something bigger than yourself. It’s about loving and caring in a way that highlights your unique talents. Be that a community, a sport, a career, a hobby or other people. A purpose gives you motivation to get out of bed in the morning. If you’ve been searching for your purpose. If you’ve been moving from this to that and you still haven’t the foggiest idea, then relieve yourself from the stress and anxiety. Stop searching for your passion and follow your curiosity instead.

Curiosity only does one thing, and that is to give. And what it gives you are clues on the incredible scavenger hunt of your life. – Elizabeth Gilbert

Passion is not always obvious, curiosity however fuels your imagination. It helps you figure out what excites you, what brings out the best in you and what makes you lose sense of time. Ultimately leading you to that burning desire that is you passion. You see I don’t yet have a clear vision for my career but I’m curious about a lot of things. This curiosity keeps me motivated and drives me. I believe by pursuing my curiosity I will end up where I need to be.

Curiosity is an Asset

Your curiosity gives you the drive and desire to try new things, to explore new places and to develop yourself and your skills. You may not even realise it but life hands out many opportunities. You can pretty much try anything you want and learn everything you can. But only if you’re curious enough to try them and ambitious enough to see all of the opportunities right in front of you. Keep the future in your vision but try to stay focused on the present. This way you can figure out what makes you happy, what makes you frustrated and what challenges you. These feelings will help you to discover what your interests are and eventually lead you to your passion and purpose.

Though I can’t help you find your purpose just know that it’s okay not to have it everything figured out. I hope this post will ease any restless minds.

I love what you said here, ‘curiosity however fuels your imagination. It helps you figure out what excites you, what brings out the best in you and what makes you lose sense of time.’ This is brilliant. Thank you for this post. I write a similar article recently about discovering your why. It is so important so that you can live an amazing life.
