In this post I’m sharing 5 ways you’re blocking your success. Without realising it most of us are standing in your own way of success, as our excuses become our truth and we believe the limiting thoughts we tell ourselves. I hope this post will help you see how you may be standing in your own way.
Admire don’t envy
Stop envying people who have what you want, instead admire them and tell yourself, if they can do it, then I can do it too. For example, if you criticise people who workout a lot but you wish you was fitter and healthier, then you will be subconsciously repelling this from your life. It all comes down to the law of attraction in which like attracts like, meaning whatever energy you send out, you will attract back in return. Therefore if you speak badly of people who workout a lot or who have a lot of money, then you are sending a message to the universe that you don’t want these things in your life.
Focus on what you want
Focus on what you want, not what you don’t want. For example, instead of focusing on not having enough money, focus on making more money. Instead of focusing on not loving your body, focus on being healthier. I think this one can be difficult because we have a tendency to focus on our struggles instead of our achievements. When you focus on what you don’t want, you will attract more of what you don’t want in your life. When you focus on not loving your body you will find yourself in a negative mind-set, whereas if you focus on being healthier and looking after your body, then you will shift into a more positive mindset. Again, it all comes down to the law of attraction in which your thoughts materialise into your reality.
Remove the pressure
If you’re having trouble believing in yourself, just say to yourself, I just want to see if I can and then do exactly that and see what happens. How much do you believe in yourself, your skills and your abilities? We hold ourselves back in life and most of the time we don’t even realise were doing it. We make excuses, we get scared people will judge us, we’re scared to waste effort and not reach the high expectation we set ourselves. But what if we go rid of all the reasons why we think we shouldn’t do something and simply “see if we can”.
I just want to see if I can…
- Run 5k
- Exercise 5 times a week
- Eat healthier
- Wake up earlier
- Create a morning routine
- Start a blog
- Start a business
- Sell one of my cakes, paintings, courses
Create a specific goal
Another way you might be blocking your success is by setting yourself vague goals, such as I want to be healthier, I want to be happier and I want to make more money. Unless you have an idea on how turn these goals into a reality, then it’s going to be very hard to achieve them. But here’s the catch, we set ourselves vague goals so we won’t feel discouraged when we don’t achieve them, because when the goal is vague, you cant measure your success. You can also say things like, I didn’t make more money because I didn’t put in the effort and I didn’t loose weight because I didn’t have a plan. This way your failure is the consequence of having a vague goal. Yet, even if you had put in 100% effort and still not made as much money or lost as much weight as you had planned, you would be a lot further towards your goal.
You don’t think there’s enough time
You might be blocking your success because you don’t think there’s enough time. I mean yes it would be lovely to have more time in the day, because if there was we would definitely be making the most of it and working on our goals, right? I know it seems like there is never enough time in the day and some days there just isn’t. But if you was to really look and even write down (if you have time!) how you are spending every hour of your day, I’m sure you could find time to work on your goals. Maybe by waking up earlier, maybe by watching less TV, maybe by procrastinating less you would get tasks done quicker? If you’re really struggling to find more time, here’s some ideas that may help:
- Hire help such as a cleaner
- Take your car to the car wash instead of doing it yourself
- Give your kids extra chores
- Batch cook your meals
- Wake up earlier
- Start saying no to things you don’t want to do
- Schedule tasks into your calendar
Have you ever noticed that you’re blocking your success? What do you do to stop?
