How To Stop Caring About What Others Think of You

When I was growing up I was pretty shy and insecure. I cared about what other people thought of me, even those who I wasn’t friends with. This is an issue which holds a lot of us back as it’s only natural to care what other people think about us. As humans we worry about being judged, we seek approval from others and we like to please people. Basically we want to fit in and not be the odd one out. Yet the realty is when you worry about what others think of you, you hold yourself back from being yourself and doing what you love. Life becomes lot easier once you learn to stop caring about what other people think of you. Because nothing should have the power to hold you back in life. Nobody should take away your confidence and stop you from living out your dreams.

Today I want to share with you some tips to help you stop caring about what others think of you. So you can be yourself and do the things you want to do.

Love Yourself First

“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world” – Lucille Ball. This is one of my all time favourite quotes because it’s completely true, you first and foremost have to love yourself, embrace the wonderful and amazing person which you are. You don’t need other people to tell you what you’re worth. When you love yourself if doesn’t matter what other people say because you love yourself enough to not care or be hurt by what other people think or say. Let your inner confidence shine and love who you are.

Don’t Take It Personally

If you don’t take anything personally then you immune yourself from other peoples opinions and nothing and nobody can hurt you. There is an idea that people are mirrors meaning that everything that people say and do is a reflection of themselves. Therefore you are simply a canvas for people to project their beliefs and thoughts on to. The good thing is, you are in control of your own opinions and beliefs and you don’t have to accept other peoples projection.

Stop Being Paranoid

You’re not on everyone’s mind so stop being paranoid. We all think that we’re super important and that everyone is talking about us and thinking about us but in reality that’s not true at all. Let’s be realistic here, people are way too occupied thinking about themselves and worrying about their own life to even let you cross their mind. Sometimes they are even worried what you’re thinking of them, meaning you’re both being paranoid of what each other thinks of the other, seems kind of silly doesn’t it?

Never Explain Yourself

People only understand from their own level or perception, meaning people will only hear what they want to hear. So don’t bother explaining yourself and your life to others, it’s only a waste of your time. Just be yourself and do what makes you happy. Those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

Your life isn’t yours if you constantly care what others think.

Hey Paula, I think as humans there is always going to be a part of us that cares what others think of us, but we just need to remind ourselves that this is our life and we just need to do what makes us happy. Thanks for commenting x

love yourself and don’t explain yourself are the most important and hard points. Just think of what’s right for you (sometimes) to stay yourself is such a big thing.

If there is anything that holds people back, it’s the fear of being judged. It sucks that people don’t support one another.

I think it’s only human to fear being judged and it agree it completely sucks when people don’t support one another. I suppose all we can do is do what make as happy, because it’s our life after all and we should do what we feel is right for us and try to move past the fear of being judged x

I learned to to do this not care what others think because then you become so consumed about how other people see you and it’s not worth living life that way . Great post!

Aww well I’m so glad that this post was able to help you! I think each point is just as important as the other and if you can work on all four then you will be well on your way to not caring what others think and living your life exactly how you want to live it, because your life isn’t fully yours if you constantly care what others think of you. So remember (1) love yourself first (2) don’t take it personally (3) stop being paranoid (4) never explain yourself. Thanks for commenting lovely x

I’ve been working on this lately, and you really do feel so much lighter when you care less of what others think. It’s true, much of the time we are paranoid, but our fears of judgement shouldn’t stop us from living our lives and being happy! Wonderful post dear xx
